Nuno Paiva

Nuno Paiva is a PhD Student on Agrarian Sciences, specialty Biotechnology at University of Azores, supported by Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) with a scholarship, his research is focused on evaluate the ability of bacteriocin-producing lactic acid bacteria isolated from the rumen of cows, milk and dairy products (artisanal cheese) to produce bacteriocins and modulate the dynamics of rumen fermentation to improve health, performance and reduction of methane emissions. Nuno holds both Bachelor’s degree in Agrarian Sciences - Branch Animal Production (2020) and a Master’s degree in Zootechnical Engineering (2023) from University of Azores (UAc). His PhD project is about - Study on bacteriocins and bacteriocin-producing bacteria in the modulation of the ruminant microbiota.
